Zakopane

It took a 7 hour bus ride but we made it! No complaints this time about lack of AC on our bus. The ride went pretty quickly considering it's length. The kids are pretty excited for the real camp to start, and our boys in particular seem to be really getting along with the Polish boys. The Polish boys seem a little extra "energetic" around our girls which as you know is probably the worst way they could show interest. All our girls want to do is train and sightsee, which is great. That's what they are here to do, but I'm pretty sure that after 3 wrestling sessions a day for a week, suffering together, our bonds will be stronger.

We are staying in a hostel-type residence where all our boys are in one room, and our 7 girls had the option to be split up into 2 rooms, but instead opted to push their beds together and stay as one tight unit! Nice to see the two clubs getting along so well. The boys are getting along great too.

Our residence has a mini cafeteria for our meals in the basement, and training facilities on the first and fourth floor. We really don't need to leave the building. I mean other than to go for mountain trail runs every day! Our schedule is something like 7- wakeup 7:45 training (run, hike, technique), 8:30 breakfast, 10- on mat training to 1130, 1200 lunch, 130 to 3:30 on mat training, 5 pm dinner and 630 to 830 free time, evening team-building or training session. These kids will be tired! ( Jan and Kevin, your son is making you proud as I write this, he is surrounded by a half dozen giggling female Polish wrestlers!)

Sebastian, one of our coaches, took us down the High Street of Zakopanye, which is basically a downhill, cobblestone road with every imaginable tourist trap you can imagine! Tourist souvenir stores, street performers, pubs, a childrens carnival, junkfood stores everywhere and St. Bernards with a keg of brandy around their neck.

Kids are awesome from both our clubs, and I'll choose one to blog about the trip so far in tomorrow's blog! Dovidzanya!
